Days 60 - 70. Rest, Recovery, and the End of an Era.
A much needed rest and recharge at home in Truckee, so fortunate to live just 8 miles off the PCT. As well as resting my foot and resolving the tendinitis issue I’d been having I was also able to put back on some of the weight I’d lost. Burning well over 5,000 calories a day and struggling to eat more than 3,000 inevitably results in weight loss, in my case unwelcome weight loss.
For the next section I’ve tried to up the calories per day in my resupply packages by adding olive oil and various nuts but will also be making more effort to take on ‘good’ calories at any town I pass through.
My plan had been to finish the PCT, return to Truckee and then pack up before returning to the UK. However I made the decision to pack up, and sell up, while on the enforced 10 days off trail. A massive effort to get everything packed away to be shipped to Edinburgh, things like the car sold and the cabin prepared to go on the market. A big decision for me, I’ve loved living at the cabin in Truckee and leave behind some very happy memories, but new adventures await.
